A quick tour
The menu on the left provides access to all main features. The features shown depend on your access rights. Click an item to expand it and show its sub-items, which are indented. Opening one item closes the one that was open, and the other items of the menu stay visible. Click an open item again to collapse it. Help always stays at the bottom.
Under Items in the menu, Published lists all published and withdrawn QC Items. If you have editor access, you will also see the views for QC Items that are in review or being drafted, the editor discussions and the Item validators.
Each QC Item describes in detail what should be tested, such as QC Item 0016B which describes a test for black (and other single-colour) frames.
The Templates section allows you to create and edit Templates, each of which contains a selection of QC Items. For example all QC Items you want to perform when ingesting externally produced content.
Test material is available for QC Items, but also for use in (non-QC) work in other EBU groups.
The Items use common Parameter definitions as much as possible. The Types, Representations, Units, and Ranges allow you to see which parameter values are used.
Other menu items:
- Items > Ed. Discussions - for Editors, an overview of the open discussions between editors.
- Items > Item Validators - for Editors, the Item check rules behind the checks on the Item edit page. Workflow managers also see Layers <> IDs, a list of Items whose EBU QC ID letter does not match the Layer.
- API validators - the validators that check the API output. Both the API v2 and the API v3 validator are open to everyone to view.
- Managed data - the data that QC Items refer to: the Dictionary of globally defined terms, the References list of cited standards, and the lists of Types, Representations, Units and Ranges used by the QC Items.
- Administration - Workflow managers maintain the Organisations 🧪 (experimental) under Organisations, and handle the requests to represent one under Representatives.
- Help - the Help entry is the lowest item in the menu.
On a wide screen, the arrow at the top of the menu collapses it to icons, and expands it again. The choice is remembered. On a narrow screen, use the menu button in the header.
You can join the EBU QC Group to provide feedback related to the use of this tool and/or comment on specific QC Items by using the Discussion function for that Item. You may also contact tech@ebu.ch for support.
